DIY pencil necklace

As an avid 'colourer-inner' I have always loved jewellery with a stationary theme. With inspiration from this and this piece from Me & Zena and hundreds of pencils in the cupboard I decided to create my own.

What you will need:
  • Coloured pencils
  • Small hand drill
  • Hack saw
  • Wooden block
  • Blue tack
  • Sand paper
  • Gold chain
  • Jump rings
  • Gold wire
  • Pliers
  • Metal cutters
  • An extra pair of hands is helpful!

Sharpen your pencils to make them look all lovely and smart.
Using a wooden block and blue tack to keep the pencil stable, drill a small hole through the side.
(If you are clumsy like myself, get someone who is less likely to chop a finger off. In my case, olde daddio J)

Using a small HACK saw, HACK your way through the pencils making sure they are relatively the same length.

HACK. HACK.

Sand your sloppy handiwork down to create smooth edges.
Arrange your pencil beads in your desired order and thread gold wire through. You could use sewing thread of some kind but I found that a sturdier material creates a better hang.
Attach your jump rings, chain and BOOM, its done!

HAVE A NICE DAY,
Helen x
